The Artistic and Production Associate at Emerson Stage reports to the Director of Theatre Operations and is a key member of the Emerson Stage management and production team, collaborating with faculty, production staff, and performing arts students to produce the 2025-26 season. This 9-month position, lasting a maximum of 3 years, includes meeting the needs of each production, supervising students in co-curricular production work, supporting communication between staff, faculty, and students, managing student office assistants, developing orientation guides for visiting artists, organizing show selection and student casting processes, mentoring production and stage management students, producing New Fest: Short Works, supporting student showcases in Boston and NYC, providing dramaturgy when needed, attending and leading production meetings, and performing other duties as required. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in theater production or arts management, 3-5 years of experience in theatre production or management, and experience managing and supervising production teams. Candidates should have strong communication, organization, and time management skills, ability to work collaboratively with college-aged and artistically oriented individuals, proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites, ability to multi-task and prioritize goals, problem-solving and analytical skills, and enthusiasm for teamwork. Physical demands include lifting equipment and tools, occasional work in confined spaces or at heights, and on-call availability in a theatre environment. Work environments include theaters (front of house, backstage, and studio) and office settings. Salary ranges from $39,000 – $46,837 annually, based on experience, with scheduled weekly hours of 36.25.
