Performs housekeeping services and sanitation tasks on a daily and project basis, assuming responsibility for general cleaning in all areas of the hospital. Completes maintenance work request forms as required for patient room items such as beds, lights, TVs, blinds, chairs, bedside stands, tables, toilets, and sinks, while using supplies and equipment in a safe manner. Actively participates in continuous quality improvement, identifies health and safety concerns and unsafe work practices, and is accountable for ensuring a safe workplace by following and developing safe work practices. Duties include following housekeeping policies and procedures for mixing chemicals, using PPE, and handling infectious waste; cleaning patient rooms and all other hospital areas according to procedures and quality standards; attending required in-services, including infection control, safety, and staff meetings; cleaning and maintaining carpets and hard floor surfaces; accepting and performing all assigned job duties and schedule changes as needed; demonstrating proper body mechanics when lifting or moving materials; practicing proper handwashing and infection control techniques; identifying and properly disposing of regular, contaminated, and recyclable waste; and cleaning and maintaining all housekeeping equipment.
