If you enjoy taking a deep dive into new software technologies to surface their real and measurable value—and know how to communicate what you know in a concise and concrete manner—you’ll thrive as an analyst for Directions on Microsoft. We are a small, focused group of analysts with over 25 years of experience delivering unparalleled insight into Microsoft technologies, roadmaps, and licensing policies. Our Fortune 1000 clients rely on our Reports, Roadmaps, Licensing Guides, and monthly Webinars to cut through the fog of information and make informed decisions that maximize the value of their Microsoft investments. As an analyst, you will research, understand, and communicate important shifts in Microsoft strategy for server applications, cloud services, and platform products such as SharePoint Server, SQL Server, and Office 365; evaluate Microsoft’s server technologies, their relevance to large corporate customers and partners, competitive advantages, and likely evolution; contribute approximately 5,000 words per month to research and analysis services; deliver phone-based and in-person briefings; stay up-to-date on products and communities through conferences, reading, and ongoing Microsoft contacts; and use your industry acumen to separate substance from marketing hype while simplifying complex topics without sacrificing accuracy.
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of proven sales or customer success experience in a technology-related industry, be highly conscientious, self-motivated, dependable, outgoing, and a team player with exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required, along with a Bachelor’s Degree. Candidates must have significant domain expertise with Microsoft licensing, be comfortable interacting with IT executives, press, and Microsoft, and enjoy deep research and precise writing (training provided if needed). Additional desirable qualifications include significant domain expertise with Microsoft technologies and willingness to live in or relocate to the Seattle area.
